What is it about?
A group of horny college baseball players is on the loose three days before the classes start. All they want to do is get drunk, get laid, and play baseball. And I can’t really blame them. Except for the baseball part. We don’t do baseball where I come from.
So as you can imagine, those three days are filled exactly with that: trying to get laid, getting drunk, and playing baseball. It doesn’t say when the movie takes place, but judging by the ridiculous haircuts and mustaches, it should be somewhere in the 80’s.
Who should watch it?
Should I watch it with my kid(s)?
No. This movie is all about sex, alcohol, and drugs. They also swear a lot.
Is it good to watch on a date?
I think it is. It’s a funny, light-hearted movie.
For what age and gender is it intended?
For anyone older than 16 who likes a nice, relaxing movie. And for fans of Richard Linklater.
What can I expect from this movie?
Will I fall off the couch laughing and have sore abs the next day due to laughing too hard?
It’s not a hysterical comedy, but it does have a couple of funny moments, and some bizarre characters that will put a smile on your face every now and then.
Is my brain going to implode trying to figure out the movie?
No. Unless you are high and/or drunk like the main characters.
Will I learn anything from this movie?
Yes. College students in the 80’s looked like they’re 35 years old.
Is it based on something?
Is this movie a must-see?
Only if you’re a Linklater’s fan.
Similar movies like “Everybody Wants Some”?
There’s “Dazed and Confused”, also from Richard Linklater, “Animal House”, a real classic from 1978., and “The Breakfast Club”.
As stated in the title, “Everybody Wants Some” is like a sequel to “Dazed and Confused”. We had to wait 23 years for it, but it finally came. The focus is now on college students, rather than on high schoolers, but the premise is pretty much the same.
The movie simply depicts an everyday life of average college students who happen to play baseball as well. It’s almost like a documentary. Linklater is famous for a fantastic development of his characters and this movie is no different. Even though the movie is like a documentary, the characters are funny and sometimes bizarre.
When you put it together, you get an entertaining movie that’s fun to watch, even though you probably won’t remember it in a year or two. Especially if you are like me and watch 10-15 movies per week. I give it 7/10.
