What is it about?
When you’re a punk band and you play in front of a crowd that is mostly comprised of savage skinheads and girls with ridiculous haircuts, you should know that there is a high possibility of things going awfully wrong.
Such was the case with the punk band in this movie. A wrong band (Punk band performing for a bunch of skinheads? Really? That’s a death wish if I ever saw one.) in a wrong place in front of a wrong crowd. They were unlucky enough to witness a murder and then everything got really, really bad for them.
Who should watch it?
Should I watch it with my kid(s)?
It’s a horror movie, so no. Unless… Your kid wants to be in a punk band instead of focusing on school. In that case, you can show your kid this movie to see what happens when you’re in a punk band. That’ll teach him!
Is it good to watch on a date?
Only if you are both skinheads and find bashing other people a delightful experience.
For what age and gender is it intended?
Pretty much for everyone older than 16.
What can I expect from this movie?
Will I fall off the couch laughing and have sore abs the next day due to laughing too hard?
Not unless you are seriously disturbed.
Will I get scared?
It’s not that scary. It’s a good movie, but it doesn’t rely on usual scare tactics such as a sudden appearance of the bad guy or something like that. Although, Professor X as a right-wing extremist is a pretty scary concept.
Is my brain going to implode trying to figure out the movie?
Will I learn anything from this movie?
Yeah. Don’t witness a murder.
Is this movie a must-see?
It’s a decent movie, but it’s not a must see.
Similar movies like “Green Room”?
To be recommended.
“Green Room” is a very good movie that accurately depicts how fucking insane the skinheads are. And yes, I know, there are many kinds of skinheads and some are good and they actually started as a positive movement, blah, blah, blah… Tell it to the judge! You know the type of skinheads I’m talking about!
Anyway, “Green Room” is not without flaws. For example, Patrick Stewart is, in my opinion, a terrible choice the be the main villain. His face is just too damn benevolent! And I kept seeing Professor X. Not even the beard helped. And some of the decisions made by the good guys (Members of the punk band, just in case you thought skinheads are the good guys. You Nazi scum…) were pretty terrible, but I guess it’s easy to judge when you are not in that position. Other than that, it’s a movie worth watching. I give it 7/10.
