Criminal (2016): Psychopaths kick ass!

What is it about?

CIA got so desperate, they decided to put sensitive information, MMA skills, and deadly handgun accuracy in a complete psychopath’s brain in an attempt to solve a major crisis. What could possibly go wrong?

Now, Jericho (that’s the psychopath’s name) is not a bad man. He just can’t tell right from wrong, has child-like impulses, and breaks property and people whenever he feels like it. But other than that, he’s a pretty decent guy and totally reliable.

Soon, CIA realizes that Jericho ( That’s like, the coolest name ever!) is a loose cannon and doesn’t give a shit about what CIA wants. No one could have predicted that.

It’s an okay movie for a date.

Everyone who likes violent, action-packed movies.

What can I expect from this movie?

  • Will I fall off the couch laughing and have sore abs the next day due to laughing too hard?

Some of the Jericho’s reactions can be pretty funny. And his haircut is hilarious, too.

  • Is my brain going to implode trying to figure out the movie?

No. The movie is really not hard to follow.

  • Will I learn anything from this movie?

It’s possible for Ryan Reynolds to die very early in a movie.

  • Is it based on something?

No.

No, not really.

Similar movies like “Criminal”?

Try with “Selfless”. It’s plot is a bit different, but it has a lot in common with “Criminal”. They both have Ryan Reynolds in it, for example, but his role is reversed.

Judgment time!

“Criminal” is a decent action movie with a very good performance from Kevin Costner. It’s an unusual role for him, but he manages to pull it off. He is by far the strongest link of this otherwise mediocre movie.

Filled with unoriginal scenes, “Criminal” manages to be above average thanks to Jericho and his inner struggle. It’s hard for a psychopath when he gets infected with emotions and empathy. You just have to sympathize with him. I just wish they gave Jericho more room and developed his character even further. Then it would have been an awesome movie.

I give this movie 7/10.
